Michelin 2008- 2010 : Guesthouses
in France : A 17th century villa in the heart of the
historic center just two minutes from the Palais des Papes. Do
not be deterred by the narrow hall and steep staircase, because
once upstairs you will be greeted by a delightful little rooftop
house, laid out around a flower-decked terrace, complete with
a small swimming-pool. The interior is reminiscent of a family
home and is full of charm with a cozy sitting room (period furniture,
red walls, bookcases and an eclectic assortment of paintings and
ornaments) and light attractive bedrooms. The sophisticated classicism
of “Caroline” is particularly endearing, including
a bathroom graced by an antique marble washbasin. The snug “Olivia”
commands a view of the bell tower of Dt Agricol. The family suite
under the eaves possesses a private terrace overlooking the city’s
rooftops. A haven of peace and quiet in the heart of the city.
Rick Steves’ Guide2008- 2010 : Villa Agapè, just off busy
place de l’Horloge (right in the center), is an oasis of
calm and good taste. Run by friendly Madame de La Pommeraye, the
villa has three handsomely decorated rooms, a peaceful courtyard,
lovely public spaces, and a soaking pool to boot. For a week-long
stay, ask about the renting of her entire house, where you get
Madam’s room, study, and kitchen.

grown up daughters, Caroline and Olivia, whose rooms they once
were, and one large enough to accommodate a family, opens to a
sunny and private terrace. Agapè’s entrance in the
inconspicuous wooden door next to the pharmacy.
